- 04/10/2023: SMS Laboratory hosted the 45th days of Phase Equilibria (JEEP 2023) congress in Mont Saint Aignan, France. More than 60 attendees came from France and Europe to discuss about thermodynamics of heterogenous equilibria.
- 09/2023: Arrival of the new single crystal X-Ray Diffractometer D8 Venture from Bruker (financial support by Region Normandie and FEDER), equipped with two micro-sources (copper and molybdenum).
- 02/06/2023: PhD Defence of Aurélien LEMERCIER : Control of Powder Flowability of Active Pharmaceutical Ingredients through Spherical Agglomeration: Case studies of crystal structure retention. (Directed by Prof. Gérard COQUEREL and Dr. Massimiliano FORCATO) - Congratulations!
- 02/02/2023: Dr Kazuhiro FUCHIZAKI (Ehime University, Japan) gave a talk entitled "Melting curve in the vicinity of the phase boundary between the ambient-pressure crystalline phase and its high-pressure modification of SnI4".
- 09/12/2022: Dr Andrew ALEXANDER (School of Chemistry, University of Edimburgh, United Kingdom) gave a talk entitled "Witnessing the birth of crystals by laser-induced nucleation". He visited the laboratory as a jury member of Melody BRIARD's PhD defense.
- 28/07/2022 : The article of Dr Kangli LI on the pressure - temperature phase diagram of pyrazinamide published in CrystEngComm, originated from her PhD work (supervisors : Dr Ivo RIETVELD and Dr Gabin GBABODE) made the cover page of the corresponding issue (volume 24, number 28) of the journal.
- 12/07/2022 : Dr Basab CHATTOPADHYAY (X-ray physics group, Trondheim University, Norway) gave a talk entitled "Advanced 3D X-ray microscopy". He visited the laboratory to launch a new collaboration notably through the submission, next November, of a Doctoral Network European project involving some members of the Crystallogenesis team.
- 13/10/2021 : Dr Pascale SUBRA PATERNAULT (CBMN - University of Bordeaux) gave a talk about "Crystallization under supercritical conditions". She was visiting our lab in the frame of the collaboration of the ANR project CYPRES in which the Crystallogenesis team is implicated.
- 25th November 2021 : PhD Defence of Marine HOQUANTE : Homochiral vs. heterochiral crystal packing dilemma. Interplay between intrinsic and supramolecular chirality. (Directed by Dr. Ivo RIETVELD and Prof. Gérard COQUEREL) - Congratulations!
- September 2021 :Dr Charline GERARD integrated the lab as a post-doctoral researcher. She will work with Joop TER HORST on the Chaire d'excellence subject : Chirality as a Probe for Crystal Nucleation
- April 2021 : we are glad to welcome Pr Joop TER HORST as the coordinator of the "Chaire d'excellence" funded by the Région Normandie : Chirality as a Probe for Crystal Nucleation
- 23th Mars 2021: Kangli Li sucessfuly defended her PhD entitled The interactions between pyrazinamide and urea derivatives and their role in the stabilization of the gamma form of pyrazinamide
- 18th Mars 2021: Chloé SAINLAUD sucessfuly defended her PhD entitled Characterization of aging of lipid-based food matrices. Study of their textural evolutions over time

- We are pleased to welcome Professor Bredikhin (Laboratoire des ligands organophosphorés) for the thesis defense of Ryusei Oketani.
- We are pleased to receive in December 2019 Professor Joop Ter Horst (University of Strathclyde) for the thesis defense of Ryusei Oketani. Students of Master 2 crystallization will have the honor of attending 2 of his lectures.
- August 2019, invitation of Professor Woo-Sik KIM (Kyung-Hee University Seoul South Korea) collaboration on continuous deracemization with Couette-Taylor technology.
- From september 2019, Laureline Marc starts a CIFRE thesis with the company Seqens (Porcheville).
- ISO 9001: 2015 certification obtained: Tremplin Carnot I2C has obtained ISO 9001: 2015 certification for its quality management system.
- On July 05, 2019, Nicolas Couvrat sucessfuly defended his HDR entitled "Contribution à l’étude du désordre structurel dans les matériaux moléculaires : impact de la stéréoisomérie"
- From May 2nd, 2019, Aurélien Lemercier starts a CIFRE thesis with the company ZACH-Système (Avrillé) of the ZAMBON (I) group.
- 27th Febuary 2019: Clément De Saint Jores sucessfuly defended his PhD entitled "Towards a deeper understanding of Preferential Enrichment. A case study: DL Arginine Fumarate in ethanol-water 50-50 mixture"
- 6th December 2018: Bienvenu Atawa sucessfuly defended his PhD entitled "Molecular Mobility and Aging of Chiral Amorphous Compounds"
- The SMS laboratory will be pleased to welcome Prof. Adrian FLOOD (Vidyasirimedhi Institute, School of Energy Science and Engineering, Thaïland) from September 7th to 14th, for the development of research projects, as well as conferences and seminars.
- From Thursday 6th to Friday 7th September 2018, the SMS laboratory organized the 25th BIWIC Symposium, held at the University house - Thanks to all its participants for making this event a great moment of scientific exchanges.
- From Monday 3rd to Wednesday 5th September 2018, the SMS laboratory organized the "CORE Workshop 2018 and Mid-term Review Meeting" as part of the ITN CoRe European project

- The SMS laboratory will be pleased to welcome Mr Hiroki TAKAHASHI from September 15 to 29, 2018 and Pr Joop TER HORST from October 3 to 26, 2018 for the development of research projects, as well as conferences and seminars.
- 24th to 29th July 2018: Synchrotron measurements at SOLEIL (Paris, France) are scheduled in the framework of Kangli Li's PhD thesis.
- 2nd July 2018: we are hosting a PhD Student from the Core Network, Giulio VALENTI - He will be performing his secondement in the laboratory.
- 29th June 2018, 10am. Poirier Amphitheater, IRCOF : François-Xavier GENDRON will defend his PhD entitled "Contribution to chiral discrimination in the solid state & access to pure enantiomer"
- 26th February 2018: Kangli Li obtained an Erasmus scholarship for a three month internship period (April 30th to August 4th 2018) in the laboratory of Prof Tamarit in Barcelona (Universitat Politecnica de Catalunya). She will focus on thermal analysis under pressure and X-ray diffraction measurements as a function of temperature.
- 12th February 2018, we are hosting a PhD Student from the Core Network, Francesca CASCELLA - She will be performing his secondement in the laboratory.
- 29th January 2018 : we are hosting a PhD Student from the Core Network, Raghunath VENKATRAMANAN and Francesca BREVEGLIERI - They will be performing his secondement in the laboratory.
- 25th January 2018, the SMS Lab celebrated its 20th anniversary at a cocktail party in the new premises of the Faculty of Science.
- 14th November 2017: we are hosting a PhD Student from the Core Network, Jan JorisDEVOGELAER - He will be performing his secondement in the laboratory.
- 20th October 2017: Antoine BUREL sucessfuly defended his PhD entitled "Discrimination in the solid state during crystallization: application to Phenanthrene ultrapurification"
- The webpage of the 25th BIWIC (International Workshop on Industrial Crystallization) is now online.
- From 20 to 21 October 2017, Prof. Joop ter Horst (University of Strathclyde) will be visiting the SMS laboratory. On that occasion, few hours of his time will be devoted to teaching crystallization to master students (more info here). We are looking forward to exciting discussion about chiral resolution and nucleation. Checkout our latest colaboration here.
- From 3 to 7 September 2018, in collaboration with the ITN CoRe network (Continuous Resolution, more info here) the SMS laboratory will organize a joint congress between CoRe' ESR conferences and BIWIC 2018 (Bremen International Workshop on Industrial Crystallization). More info concerning registration for BIWIC will be published in the near future.
- From 18 to 28 September 2017, the SMS laboratory will host two great japanese professor from Kyoto University: Prof. Rui Tamura and Prof. Hiroki Takahashi. Their research works permited major contributions to the understanding of the preferential enrichement phenomenon. Checkout our latest colaboration here.
